Grace

Grace is here now and forevermore. It’s constantly pouring out of the hands of our God and I am thankful for that.

Powerful Little Things

I was reading Matthew 21 this morning and the story of Jesus cursing the fig tree really got me. It’s an amazing, yet simple example of the power of God. I don’t understand why He cursed the tree instead of giving it fruit but that’s not the point of the story. What gets me is that there’s no room for doubt in this story, especially for anyone that saw this happen. Think about it, Jesus’ other miracles of healing can be doubted by many. They can say “they weren’t really crippled, or blind, or deaf, or lame…” People can see it as a fraud, although we know it wasn’t because God still does these things today. The fig tree is different though. They heard Jesus speak and at that instant, they watched the tree completely wither up.

In the morning, as Jesus was returning to Jerusalem, he was hungry,  and he noticed a fig tree beside the road. He went over to see if there were any figs, but there were only leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” And immediately the fig tree withered up. The disciples were amazed when they saw this and asked, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.” // Matthew 21:18-22

This is a great reminder of God’s power and His love for us. Jesus tells us to pray for anything, and with faith we will receive it. God loves us and He loves to show us that.

Passion 2011

I found out recently that I’m going to be able to go back to Passion this year, and I am so excited! Last year was my first passion event and it definitely changed my life. Seeing that many students get together in one place for the name of Jesus is powerful. You can check out my post on last year, Awakening, here. Are you going to be at Passion 2011? Also, if you’ve never heard of it or just want to find out more, go here.  This year, there will be 2 events. One in Atlanta and one in Ft. Worth, take your pick and get signed up. I promise, you will never be the same.

A New Frontier

Last night I started to learn the guitar, oh the pain. My fingers are sore and have a hard time moving between chords, but I know it’ll come to me with time. I just need patience, and I know in God I have it.

Finishing is better than starting. Patience is better than pride. // Ecclesiastes 7:8

I picked up the guitar out of a desire to learn an instrument that I can take places with me, and I’d also like to have a more instrumental role in songwriting for our church. So I’ll keep you guys posted on my progress and maybe even share some pictures in the future. Wish me luck!

Constantly Here With Me

Ok, so today I got a text from Bible SMS and I just had to share it. Remember the post I wrote a few days ago about being set apart? Well I got this text and it lined up perfectly with what God has been speaking to me about lately. Coincidence? Nah, especially since God controls everything. To be honest I don’t really believe in coincidences. Anyways, the verse.

For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself… // Deuteronomy 7:6

I love it! God is good and He doesn’t hesitate to show us that He is constantly here with us, no matter where we are or what we’re doing. He will find a way to get our attention. Our God is love.

Ok, on another note… Bible SMS is a great thing. Basically you go to the site and sign up, then every so often you will get a bible verse texted to your phone. The only fees that apply are the ones from your carrier.

Flags – Brooke Fraser

I’ve been waiting for this album for a long time and now it’s in my ears, it doesn’t disappoint. Brooke’s music has always been incredible, from her solo albums to her contributions to Hillsong. Musically this album is fresh and original, lyrically it’s catchy, heart-felt, and real. The authenticity of this album is what gets me, these songs are deep and really create an atmosphere.

Special guests on the album include Jon Foreman, Aqualung, and William Fitzsimmons. All three of these guys add something special to Brooke’s music, and the similarities between them make for amazing additions.

There’s not really too much that I can say about this album other than go buy it. To try and explain it would not do it justice. My hat goes off to Brooke on this one, she really has created a truly astounding album.

Check out more at brookefraser.com & then go get it!
